Privacy Policy — Weight Tracker: Scale Friend
Effective date: 4 October 2026
This policy explains what information the Weight Tracker: Scale Friend app ("the app") handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. The app is made by Apposite Labs Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17153038), Office 9633, 321–323 High Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, RM6 6AX, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller.
The Short Version
- Your weight, measurements, goals, notes and reminders stay on your phone. We never receive them, and they are never uploaded, synced or backed up to any server, including ours.
- There are no accounts. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
- The app is free and supported by ads. Our advertising partner, Google AdMob, collects some device and usage information to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first.
- We use anonymous crash reporting (Sentry) to find and fix bugs. Crash reports never include your health data.
1. Information That Stays on Your Device
Everything you enter into the app is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone:
- weigh-ins, including dates, times and notes
- body measurements
- your goal (starting weight, goal weight, target date or weekly pace)
- profile details you choose to add (height, and optionally sex)
- reminder schedules and the times you mark them done
- app settings such as units and theme
We do not collect this information, and we have no way to see it. It is not sent to us or to any third party, and the app turns off Android's automatic cloud backup so it isn't copied to your Google account either.
Some of this information, such as your weight, is health-related. Because it never leaves your device, we do not process it.
Deleting it: go to Settings → Delete all data in the app, or uninstall the app. Either removes it permanently, and we cannot recover it for you.
2. Information Collected for Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows ads provided by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC). To serve, measure and protect ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects:
- device and advertising identifiers, such as your device's advertising ID
- your IP address, which can be used to estimate your approximate location (for example, your country or city)
- interactions with ads, such as views and taps
- diagnostic information about the app and ad performance
Google uses this for advertising, measurement, analytics and fraud prevention. It does not include your weight, measurements or any other information you enter into the app.
Your choices:
- UK, EEA and Switzerland: you'll be asked for your choices through Google's consent message before personalised ads are shown. You can change them at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. If you don't consent to personalised ads, you may still see non-personalised ads, which use more limited information.
- Certain US states: you can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information through the same privacy message, where it's shown.
- Everyone: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device settings. On most Android phones this is under Settings → Google → Ads or Settings → Privacy → Ads.
To learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services, see: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
3. Crash and Diagnostic Reports (Sentry)
When the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), our error-monitoring provider, so we can fix the problem. A report may include:
- technical details of the error, and what the app was doing just before it
- device details such as the model, operating system version, app version and an anonymous installation identifier
Crash reports do not include your weight, measurements, notes, reminders or any other information you've entered. We have configured Sentry not to collect personal information such as names or email addresses. The app doesn't have that information in any case. Reports are processed in Sentry's EU data region.
4. Other Things the App Does
- Notifications: if you turn on reminders, the app schedules them on your phone. No reminder information is sent anywhere. Reminder text is hidden on the lock screen.
- Rating prompt: if you choose to rate the app, it opens the Google Play Store. Anything you do there is covered by Google's privacy policy.
- Permissions: the app only asks for permission to send notifications. It does not access your location (GPS), camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files.
5. Our Legal Bases (UK GDPR)
- Personalised advertising: your consent, collected through the consent message where required.
- Non-personalised advertising, ad measurement and fraud prevention: our legitimate interests in funding a free app and keeping advertising secure.
- Crash reporting: our legitimate interests in keeping the app working reliably. These reports contain only limited technical information.
6. How Long Information Is Kept
- On your device: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Crash reports: kept by Sentry for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- Advertising data: kept by Google under its own retention policies: policies.google.com/technologies/retention
7. International Transfers
Google and Sentry may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK–US data bridge.
8. Children
The app is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
9. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to withdraw consent at any time.
- Data in the app: it's only on your device, so you control it fully and can delete it in the app at any time.
- Advertising data: you can manage it through Settings → Ad privacy choices, your device's ad settings, or Google directly.
- Crash reports: these are anonymous, so we usually can't link a report to you. If you have a request, contact us and we'll help where we can.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
10. Not Medical Advice
Weight Tracker: Scale Friend is a general wellbeing tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or on the store listing.
