About these terms

These terms govern your use of the Mushroom Identifier mobile application. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Mushroom Identifier is operated by Apposite Labs Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17153038).

Important safety notice

Mushroom misidentification can cause serious illness or death. The identification results generated by Mushroom Identifier are produced by an AI system and are provided for informational and educational purposes only. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, or incorrect.

Before consuming any wild mushroom, you must verify the identification with a qualified and experienced forager or mycologist. Apposite Labs Ltd accepts no responsibility for any harm arising from reliance on results produced by this app.

The service

Mushroom Identifier allows you to:

• Submit photos for AI-powered mushroom identification
• View species information, edibility guidance, and look-alike warnings
• Browse a species guide powered by publicly available data
• Share sightings anonymously to a community feed
• View past identifications stored on your device

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without notice.

Your use of the app

You agree to use Mushroom Identifier only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You must not:

• Submit images that contain illegal, offensive, or harmful content
• Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or reproduce any part of the app
• Use the app in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our systems
• Use automated tools to access or interact with the app

You must be at least 13 years old to use this app.

Community sightings

When you share a sighting to the community feed, you grant Apposite Labs Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content within the app. You retain ownership of any photos you submit.

You are responsible for ensuring that anything you share is appropriate and does not infringe the rights of any third party. We reserve the right to remove any community content at our discretion without notice.

Identification results

All identification results are generated automatically by an AI system. They are:

• Provided for informational purposes only
• Not guaranteed to be accurate or complete
• Not a substitute for professional mycological advice
• Not intended to be used as the sole basis for any foraging decision

We make no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of the results produced by this app.

Intellectual property

All content within the app — including design, code, text, and branding — is owned by or licensed to Apposite Labs Ltd. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app without our written permission.

Some species data is sourced from third-party open data providers under their respective licences.

Third-party services

The app integrates third-party services for advertising, AI processing, analytics, and data. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of any third-party service.

Disclaimer of warranties

Mushroom Identifier is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Apposite Labs Ltd makes no warranties of any kind — whether express, implied, or statutory — including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Apposite Labs Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this app — including but not limited to personal injury, illness, or death resulting from reliance on identification results.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
