Privacy Policy — Islamic Baby Names

1. Who we are

Islamic Baby Names is developed and published by Apposite Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17153038), with registered office at Office 9633, 321-323 High Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, RM6 6AX, UK.

2. What data we collect and why

Data stored on your device only

The following is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers:

• Your preferences — gender selection, heritage region, name source, themes, rarity, style and family names entered during onboarding
• Your saved names — your shortlist of hearted names
• Name history — names already shown to you, used to avoid repetition
• An anonymous device identifier — randomly generated, contains no personal information, used solely for Name Vote sessions
• Name Vote session data — your chosen display name, role, and vote session details

None of this data leaves your device unless you join a Name Vote session.

Name Vote

If you use the Name Vote feature, the following is stored in a cloud database:

• Your anonymous device identifier
• Your chosen display name (a name you choose yourself, not your real name)
• Your role within the vote (e.g. Mum, Dad)
• The names from your shortlist you choose to share

No login is required. We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials. Vote sessions are deleted automatically after inactivity. You can leave and remove your data at any time from within the app.

AI name search

When you use AI Picks or Smart Search, your preferences are sent to an AI service to generate or rank name suggestions. Requests are processed transiently and are not retained. Do not enter sensitive personal information in free-text fields.

Advertising

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalised or non-personalised ads depending on your consent. On first launch you will be shown a consent form (for users in the UK, EEA and applicable US states). You can change your choice at any time in Settings.

AdMob may collect advertising identifiers (GAID on Android, IDFA on iOS), IP address, device information, and ad interaction data. Third-party ad networks that may serve ads in this App include:

• Google AdMob & Play Services
• AppLovin
• Unity Ads

Analytics

We use anonymous analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate — which features are popular and how to improve the experience. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.

Crash reporting

We collect crash reports to fix bugs and improve stability. Reports include device type, OS version, app version, and error details. No personal data is included.

3. Data we do not collect

• Your real name, email address, phone number, or account credentials
• Your location
• Your contacts
• Payment information of any kind
• Any data from children — this app is intended for parents and adults

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Google Firebase — Name Vote real-time sync and anonymous analytics
• Google Gemini AI — AI name generation and search
• Google AdMob — in-app advertising
• Cloudflare — API infrastructure
• Sentry — crash reporting

Each provider is contractually required to protect your data. Some providers are based outside the UK; where data is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards are in place under UK GDPR.

This app is designed for use by adults making naming decisions for their children. The app does not collect data from children and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, please contact us at privacy@appositelabs.co.uk and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Rectify inaccurate data
• Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict or object to processing of your data
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we will notify you within the app.
